IDC: 56% of tablets shipped are iPads. Here’s the problem:

According to IDC:

– Apple’s market share of tablets is at around 56% (15,4 million)
– Amazon’s share is at 16,8% (4.7 million)
– Samsung’s at 5,8%
– Barnes & Noble at 3,5%

Those numbers are Q4/2011 – just for reference.

Here’s the problem with the numbers: IDC counts “shipped into the channel”. Translation: Sitting on store shelves.

Apple reports “sold to end consumers”. Translation: We sell them as fast as we can make them.

Also, Samsung and Amazon (B&N too?) do not report numbers on tablets…where the hell are they coming from?
Amazon? They’re losing money on each Kindle sold, and they won’t say how many they have sold.
Remember that Samsung exec who recently stated that they’re not doing too well selling those things to the end user…yeah.

So I call bullshit.
