The Verge reviews Windows Phone 8 preview.

Tom Warren for The Verge.

I fear Microsoft is, again, trying to be everything to everyone. The move to the NT kernel sounds good in theory, but will this really make for a fast and fluid experience on smartphones?

If I were a current WP 7/7.5 user, I would feel left behind, as not a single phone sold up until WP 8 is released will be upgradeable.

This is really no different than Apple using the OSX kernel & core technologies as the foundation for both OSX & iOS.

      True, but OSX/iOS are stable.

The only reason you think OSX is more stable is because apple have controlled their hardware. Its much easier to make software for one device than it is for many. Apples software isn’t actually much more reliable than windows, its just available on a limited number of devices. The reason they don’t support third party hardware is to maintain this reputation.

So you’re in agreement with me.
